The 10-Year Epiphany
After spending more than a decade in global e-commerce, our founder recognized a glaring injustice in the Moroccan rug trade. The industry was a labyrinth.
Traditionally, a single vintage or hand-knotted rug passes through three to four middlemen: local brokers, city merchants, exporters, and overseas wholesalers. This happens before it ever reaches the final customer. By the time the rug is sold, its price has quadrupled, yet the women who spent weeks meticulously tying every knot are left with a fraction of the profit. It was an archaic system that penalized the creator. We knew it had to change.

NURA bypasses the souks and the brokers entirely. We established direct partnerships with local female cooperatives nestled deep in the High Atlas mountains.
We don't buy from anonymous warehouses. We know our weavers one by one. We know their names, their families, and their stories. By working directly with these incredible women, we guarantee that the largest portion of every single sale goes directly into their hands. This empowers their households and preserves an ancient art form for the next generation.
