Anchored by a striking sense of modern minimalism, the open cream field of this piece transforms any room with its bold, asymmetrical navy lines. The sparse, graphic composition creates a calm yet highly structured mood, perfect for contemporary living spaces seeking a touch of warmth and architectural contrast. Hand-knotted by skilled women artisans in Morocco, the rug honors traditional Beni Ourain craftsmanship while embracing a distinctly modern aesthetic. Woven from 100% virgin sheep wool, the thick high pile offers luxurious softness underfoot, beautifully finished with classic flatwoven striped end bands and braided fringe.

Each NURA rug is hand-knotted to order by skilled artisans in Morocco. Natural variations in wool tone are a mark of authentic handcraft.

Made-to-Order Process

Every NURA rug is a commissioned work of art. Because we do not mass-produce, each made-to-order rug is created from scratch by skilled Moroccan artisans.

The process begins with sourcing and preparing premium virgin wool, followed by hand-spinning, traditional weaving, careful finishing, sun-washing, and natural drying to soften the fibers.

Production time is typically 2–6 weeks. The exact timeline may vary depending on the rug size, design complexity, weave density, and finishing details.

Once your rug is finished and quality checked, it is carefully packed and shipped by express courier.

Care & Maintenance

Authentic wool rugs are naturally stain-resistant thanks to the lanolin in the sheep’s wool.

  • Vacuuming: Use a suction-only vacuum (no beater bar/brush) once a week to prevent dust from settling.
  • Spills: Blot immediately with a clean, damp cloth. Do not rub.
  • Professional Cleaning: We recommend professional "wet cleaning" every 2–4 years. Never steam clean or dry clean a Moroccan wool rug.
  • Shedding: New rugs may shed slightly for the first 4–6 weeks—this is a normal sign of high-quality natural wool.

100% Virgin Live Wool: The Gold Standard

Most rugs use "dead" wool from tanneries. We don’t. we use 100% Virgin Live Wool, sheared from healthy sheep in the Atlas mountains.

The result? A fiber that is naturally rich in lanolin. This means your rug isn't just soft,it’s naturally stain-resistant and incredibly durable. Because our wool is professionally washed and meticulously finished before shipping, you get the plushness with a beautifully clean, refined finish.

FAQs

Will I be charged extra customs fees or VAT upon delivery?

Not a penny. At NURA, we operate on a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) basis for the US, UK, and EU. The price you see at checkout is final. We handle all import paperwork and pre-pay all duties and taxes, ensuring your rug arrives at your door without any surprise bills or administrative headaches.

How long does shipping take?

For our Ready-to-Ship and Vintage collections, we use global express shipping, which typically arrives in 3–5 business days. For Made-to-Order pieces, please allow 2–6 weeks for the weaving process plus express transit. We believe true art shouldn't be rushed, and we will keep you updated with photos as your rug progresses on the loom.

Why does a custom rug take 2 to 6 weeks to arrive?

Every NURA custom/made to order rug is started only after your commission is placed. The process is entirely manual: from hand-spinning the virgin wool and natural dyeing to the intricate knotting performed by female artisans in the High Atlas Mountains. This "slow-made" approach ensures zero waste and a level of quality that factory-made rugs simply cannot replicate.

Can I see my rug while it is being made?

Absolutely. We find that our clients love being part of the journey. We can provide "loom updates", photos or short videos of your specific rug being woven by our partner cooperatives. It’s a beautiful way to see the heritage and hard work poured into your piece before it even reaches your home.

What is "Live Wool" and why is it better?

Live wool is sheared from living sheep in the high altitudes of the Atlas Mountains. Unlike "dead wool" (taken from hides), live wool retains its natural lanolin. This makes the fibers incredibly soft, resilient, and naturally stain-resistant. Over time, instead of wearing out, a NURA rug develops a beautiful luster, becoming a soft, durable heirloom.

Are these rugs authentic tribal pieces or modern reproductions?

They are both. Our Vintage collection consists of one-of-a-kind pieces hand-selected from the tribes. Our Modern and Made-to-Order collections use the exact same ancestral techniques passed down through generations. We use the same wooden looms, the same knots, and the same High Atlas wool; we simply adapt the designs to fit contemporary aesthetics.

Do you offer a program for Interior Designers?

Yes, we value our partnership with the design community. Our Trade Program offers tiered discounts, priority loom scheduling, and dedicated concierge service for custom dimensions. Whether you are staging a home or designing a boutique hotel, we provide the documentation and logistics support you need. [Apply for a Trade Account here].

Can I order NURA rugs for my retail store?

We do offer wholesale opportunities for curated boutiques and galleries. Because we work directly with artisan cooperatives, we can manage bulk orders with consistent quality. Please contact us at wholesale@nurarugs.com more details.

How do I clean my Moroccan wool rug?

Because of the high lanolin content in our virgin wool, most spills can be blotted away with a damp cloth. For regular care, we recommend vacuuming (without a beater bar) to keep the fibers plush. For a deep clean every few years, we suggest professional rug cleaning. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they can strip the wool of its natural protective oils.

My rug is shedding is this a defect?

Not at all! High-quality, long-pile wool rugs will naturally shed small fibers during the first few weeks of use. This is simply the "bloom" of the wool. Regular vacuuming will quickly diminish this, leaving you with a stable, plush pile that will last for decades.
